How to Play Sixes (Hollywood) Golf Game

Partner rotation schedules, point scoring systems, and match setups.

Sixes (often called Hollywood or Round Robin Partners) is an extremely popular game designed specifically for a foursome (exactly four players). The genius of Sixes is that it rotates teammates throughout the 18 holes. Instead of playing with the same partner all day, you partner with **every other player in the group for exactly six holes.** This makes the match highly social and balances out unequal pairings.

The Rotation Schedule

An 18-hole round is split into three six-hole matches, with partner pairings rotating at set points:

Holes Pairing A Pairing B Rotation Description
Holes 1–6 Player 1 & Player 2 Player 3 & Player 4 First pairing segment
Holes 7–12 Player 1 & Player 3 Player 2 & Player 4 Second pairing segment
Holes 13–18 Player 1 & Player 4 Player 2 & Player 3 Third pairing segment

By the time you finish the 18th hole, you will have competed alongside every member of your foursome, and played against them as opponents.

Scoring Points in Sixes

While some groups play Sixes as three independent Nassau matches, a standard point scoring system is most common. On each hole, points are awarded based on how the team partners' best net or gross scores match up against their opponents.

Standard Point Distribution (Match Play per Hole)

For each individual hole, points are typically allocated as follows:

Points are accumulated individually across all three segments. At the end of the round, the player with the highest total points wins the overall game, and players settle based on the point differences on the final ledger.

Handicap application

Sixes matches can be scored gross or net. In **Net Sixes**, course handicaps are applied before identifying the best ball score of each partnership on each hole. Because partners rotate, Settle the Card dynamically adjusts partner math and updates cumulative points on the fly based on the roster sequence set up on the Setup tab.

Setting Up Sixes in Settle the Card

To play Sixes, ensure you have exactly 4 active players. Go to the Setup tab, select **Sixes** under Game Selection, set your wager per hole, and let Settle the Card manage the partner swaps and live point additions.
